Looking ahead to 2026
January: currently cold, often wet, and tinged with Ashes disappointed.
But there are green shoots too.
At Nazeing Common, we hope 2026 will be the start of an exciting new chapter for the cricket club.
Long term followers will know our pavilion was damaged beyond repair by a series of storms in early 2020.
Since then, the club has been working hard to rebuild the pavilion.
For a number of reasons progress has been frustratingly slow since planning permission was granted, but in the last few months things have started to move.
The roof is now complete, the floor screed is poured, and first fit for electrical and plumbing work is underway.
We are now hopeful the pavilion will be in operation during the 2026 season.
This will mean that we have an incredible facility for the club, the local cricket community and the village of Nazeing to enjoy. To that end, we are keen to welcome new members, whether playing or social, to join the club.
It will allow us to build on our on field success in recent years and place the club at the heart of the community.
None of this would been possible without the incredibly generous legacy left to us by Peter Danes, who sadly passed away in April 2020.
We believe the building will be a fitting tribute to him where friends can gather to socialise, celebrate alongside playing and watching cricket.
This is the first in series of blogs that will show case progress with the build, the 2026 season and other club news.
If you are interested in becoming a playing or social member of the club please contact us.
